Paul Daymonde, age 69, of Shelton, formerly of Bridgeport and Stratford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 19, 2014 after battling cancer. Paul shared the past thirty-two years of his life with his devoted wife Dorothy.
Paul, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, was born in Bridgeport to the late Percival and Mildred (Conkey) Daymonde and has been a lifelong area resident.
Paul graduated from Warren Harding High School Class of 1963, and had been employed for over forty years at Parallax Corporation, until his retirement.
He enjoyed and valued life by spending time with family and friends, playing pinochle, taking long drives, dining out, and going to the movies.
Paul loved music, collected records and was a DJ. In the 80’s and 90’s, Paul was fondly known as Dadio, as in “Dadio and the DJs”, a local DJ group that was hired for weddings and parties.
Spiritually, Paul was a member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, where he was a former church officer, and past Vice President. His faith was strong, and he felt very connected to his church and God.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #104 AF&AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite Lafayette Consistory. Paul also was a former Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack #108, Bridgeport.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, Dorothy Borodack Daymonde, include his devoted children, Lisa Graham and her husband Michael Sr., Edwin Daymonde and his wife Elise, Sharon Colon, Peter Karaffa, and Keith Karaffa and his wife Deanna, his cherished grandchildren, Katelynn, Krystal, Emily, and Ashley Daymonde, Jennifer Lopez, Whitney, Courtney, Mike Jr, and Jayda Graham, Anthony, Matthew, and Ryan Karaffa, and Justin Wargo, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a great-niece Jennifer Waldo.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brothers Elmer, Clinton and Edwin.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 24th at 9:15am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00 in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Monroe. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida will be at 4:30 PM.
