Shakespeare’s 450th birthday would have been this year and the Valley Shakespeare Festival wants to celebrate. There will be cake, items for sale, and a chance for children to help design part of the costumes for an upcoming performance.
The party will be Saturday, April 26, 10 to 2 p.m. at Plumb Memorial Library, 65 Wooster Street, Shelton.
Join members of Valley Shakespeare Festival upstairs in the library’s general purpose/reading room for a gently-used book sale, crafts and story time for the children, light refreshments and a birthday cake.
Valley Shakespeare Festival’s artistic director will read “stories” of Shakespeare’s works specially adapted for children.
Children in attendance will also be invited to craft the masks which will be worn by the actors in VSF’s free summer production of “Much Ado About Nothing” which will be presented on Thursday through Saturday, July 10-12, 8 p.m. at Shelton’s Riverwalk-Veterans Park.
Admission is free and a selection of gently used books, CD’s and DVD’s will be available for purchase at the party. All proceeds will be used to benefit the summer production.
