Fire Watch issued for Shelton on Thursday due to high winds

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Fire Watch for Shelton on Thursday due to extremely strong winds.

The Fire Watch covers southern Connecticut, including Fairfield and New Haven counties, on Thursday during the day and evening.

The watch is based on a combination of strong winds and low humidity.

For Shelton on Thursday, the NWS said sustained winds should be 15 TO 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph.

“Rapid fire spread possible if ignition occurs,” the NWS warned.
