STARTING MONDAY: Shelton plans one-week spring curbside leaf pickup

The city will conduct a one-week spring curbside leaf collection from Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2.

Leaves in paper bags should be left at the curbside on residents’ regular trash collection day. Leaf bags should be kept apart from regular trash.

Residents are reminded that leaves will be collected in brown-paper, biodegradable bags only.

Compost site will be open

Also, the city’s compost site on Willoughby Road, next to Elizabeth Shelton School, will be open that same week to drop off leaves only. Compost facility hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m.-2 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m.–noon.

Residents bringing leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming containers from the site.

Brush goes to transfer station

Brush should be brought to the city’s transfer station, 866 River Road, which is open weekly from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Questions should be directed to the Shelton Public Works Department at 203-924-9277.
