Many Shelton High School students volunteered for the event, earning community service credit for their efforts. The students were joined by volunteers from the community, transported by boat to nearby spots along the river to pick up trash.

Pine Rock Park Fire Company volunteer firefighters were active at the event, ensuring everyone’s safety. Jones was among those preparing and serving food to those who put in time to help clean up an important natural resource in their city.

Cleanup activities also took place in Stratford and Milford.
