The concert is a journey through the decades with love songs celebrating the lives of soldiers, culminating in a salute to veterans.

Remember World War II with songs by Cole Porter (“Where is the Life that Late I Led?”), Leonard Bernstein (“I Can Cook Too”), and Richard Rodgers (“I Wish I Were in Love Again”), and the Vietnam era with Harry Mancini’s “Moon River” and Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns.”

Today’s anthems will include “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and “Why Can’t I Kiss You” by Jeff Blumenkrantz.

Veterans in audience to be recognized

The show will conclude with a rousing medley honoring each military service branch and asking that veterans in the audience stand and be recognized for their courage and sacrifice.

Conductor Jerry Steichen will lead soprano Sarah Uriarte Berry and baritone Jim Weizter in the performance.

Tickets are $35 and $45 at 203-865-0831, ext. 10, or www.NewHavenSymphony.org. Tickets for families of active duty military personnel are free, student tickets $10, and children ages 6-17 free with a paying adult.
