Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, which has an office in Shelton, and OrthopedicHealth plan to merge.
According to publicity material, the merger will create the largest, independent orthopaedic specialty practice in the region, with 27 physicians — including 21 board-certified specialists.
The practice will have orthopaedists, podiatrists, physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians), and in-house physical and occupational therapists.
“This merger enhances our ability to emphasize the patient-doctor relationship and provide easy access and compassionate musculo-skeletal care at the community level,” said Glenn Elia, CEO of Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists.
Now will be 10 medical offices
The doctors of OrthopedicHealth will continue to operate from their office at 849 Boston Post Road in Milford, but their patients will now be able to utilize Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists’ group physical therapy, MRI and surgical facilities at nine southern Connecticut locations.
Dr. Tedd L. Weisman, founder of OrthopedicHealth and chairman of Milford Hospital’s Orthopedic Surgery Department, said, “Our patients will still be our patients, but they will now have access to a variety of additional services and neighborhood locations through Connecticut Orthopaedic’s network.”
