Many Shelton High students volunteered for the event at Shelton’s Sunnyside boat ramp, earning community service credit for their efforts.

The students, joined by volunteers from the community, were transported by boat to nearby spots along the river to pick up trash. Others collected litter and debris near the boat ramp, which includes a large grassy area and is adjacent to a marina.

The volunteers were treated to burgers and other food to thank them for their participation.

Pine Rock Park Fire Company volunteer firefighters were active at the cleanup, ensuring everyone’s safety. Similar activities also took place in Stratford and Milford along the Housatonic River as part of the annual cleanup event.
