Benchmark Senior Living will open the doors of its new community in Shelton next week.
The Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock facility will offer 92 apartments, with 72 for traditional assisted living and 20 for those needing memory care.
The facility at 708-A Bridgeport Ave. is in the rear of the Center at Split Rock Shopping Center, near the Outback and Vazzy’s restaurants. It cost $25 million to build.
The senior community will open on Monday, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with Benchmark officials, local public officials and local business leaders will take place Tuesday.
Built as environmentally-friendly structure
Benchmark Senior Living at Split Rock should become a gold-certified LEED building, meaning it was constructed as an environmentally-friendly, green structure.
Construction began in March 2013. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to employ about 85 people.
The three-story building will offer amenities such as a bistro/pub, computer lounge with wireless access throughout, age-appropriate exercise room, beauty salon with spa, and wellness/treatment suite.
“Shelton is a town with strong market fundamentals including a growing population of both seniors and their adult children,” said Laurie Rodman, senior director of community marketing for Massachusetts-based Benchmark.
Operates 16 other CT facilities
The Shelton site is the 50th community of Benchmark Senior Living, which owns and operates 16 other senior living communities in Connecticut.
Nearby facilities include Carriage Green at Milford, Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull, Village at Mariner’s Point in East Haven, and Ridgefield Crossings.
