TRAFFIC UPDATE: Route 8 bridge work in Shelton will lead to lane closures

Bridge repairs now are being performed at night on various bridges on Route 8 Shelton, affecting both northbound and southbound traffic.

Preliminary work began on Monday, May 5 and the project is scheduled to be completed by Friday, May 16. The regular work schedule is 8 p.m.-6 a.m. on five days a week — from Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 8 north and south between Exit 11 (Huntington Road) and Exit 13 (Constitution Boulevard) in Shelton.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. State transportation officials urged drivers to be cautious and maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
