The Shelton Community Lions Club will host a Fidelco Guide Dog presentation Monday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Center Stage Theatre, 54 Grove St. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Attendees will learn how the animals are trained, what their trainers experience during that process, and how this activity assists other people to live more productive lives.
Puppies in training will be at the event, and families are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Center Stage Theatre is located in the former Lafayette School, off Route 110 just south of downtown Shelton.
Helping the visually impaired
The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation provides guide dogs for people who are visually impaired.
It takes countless hours and years before the dogs selected for this program are ready to “graduate” and be placed with a person.
Placing the Fidelco Guide dogs helps restore people’s independence and gives them a new outlook on their surroundings, and beyond.
