SheltonPoliceDeptPatchTwo Shelton men were charged with trying to steal car batteries from Walmart over the weekend.

According to police reports, on May 11, around 2 a.m., Officer Richard Bailey was on routine patrol on Bridgeport Avenue when he observed a truck exiting the rear parking lot of Wal-Mart. The truck was later stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 8 southbound, reports said.

Officer Bailey approached the truck and allegedly saw nearly 30 car batteries in the bed of the truck. The batteries were marked “Return to Wal-Mart,” reports said. Based on an investigation by officers, it was determined that the batteries were stolen.
