The Charlie Daniels Band to perform only New England concert

The Charlie Daniels Band will perform Thursday, May 29 at 8 p.m. at the Warner Theatre in Torrington in its only New England concert this spring.

Charlie Daniels is known for his many musical genres, from his Dove Award-winning gospel albums to his Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits.

Still considered a “road warrior” at age 76, Daniels has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career, and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.

Hits include “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “Long-Haired Country Boy,” “Uneasy Rider” and “Simple Man.”

 

Lynard Skynyrd tribute

Opening act will be the Artimus Pyle Band. Artimus Pyle was a member of Lynard Skynyrd, where his powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. The band performs many well-known hits such as “Freebird” to “Sweet Home Alabama.”

About the Warner

Built by Warner Brothers Studios and opened in 1931 as a movie palace (1,772 seats), the Warner Theatre has was described then as “Connecticut’s Most Beautiful Theater.”

The Warner reopened as a performing arts center in 1983, and restoration of the main lobbies and auditorium was completed in November 2002.
