Leonard M. Lampugnale Sr., 89, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends in his home on Saturday, May 17.
He was born in 1924 in Bridgeport to the late Angelo Lampugnale and Grace Burke, and is predeceased by one sister, Jeanne Caselli.
He attended the University of Michigan, graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree from its College of Business Administration, and he attended graduate school at New York University.
He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for more than 25 years in the Purchasing and Contracts department. Mr. Lampugnale also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
After his retirement, he turned his passion for all things artistic into a full-time vocation as a fine artist participating in several juried shows throughout Connecticut.
Mr. Lampugnale is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Velgot Lampugnale of Trumbull; three devoted children, Nancy Lessard and her husband Brian of Huntington, CT, Lisa Lampugnale of New York, NY, and Leonard Lampugnale Jr. and his wife Shari of Marlborough, CT; and eight cherished grandchildren, Emily and Alec Lessard, and Blaise, Cy, Luke, Jesse, Eve, and Tanner Lampugnale.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Tuesday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Stephen’s Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull, CT. Interment will follow in Long Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, May 19, from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
