Man arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun in the woods

On Monday, the Shelton Police Department responded to a call of a man entering the woods carrying a shotgun, and a report of shots fired in the area of Walnut Avenue and Perry Hill Road.

SheltonPoliceDeptPatchPolice found the alleged shooter of the weapon, Christopher James Birch, 31, of Falmouth Drive, who had the weapon. Police said officers also found a paper fold containing a white substance that later tested positive for heroin.

Birch was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, carrying a firearm under the influence, and illegal possession of narcotics. Bond was $20,000.
