The No. 6 seed Shelton High boys volleyball team swept visiting the Fairfield Warde/Ludlowe Coop, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23) in the first round of the Class L state tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Murray Gymnasium.
Seeded No. 11, Fairfield (8-11) rallied from a 20-12 deficit to get within a point at 23-22. After the teams traded serves, Grant Fevrier finished off the sweep for Shelton with a searing kill through Fairfield’s defense.
Shelton advances to face third-seeded Southington High on Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m.
