Shelton Boy Scout Troop 55 held a Court of Honor on June 11 honoring Scouts for their achievements.
Nine Scouts earned rank advancements: Scout, Andrew Ross; Tenderfoot, Sean Sampaio; Second Class, Joshua Hunter; Star, Cameron Amato, Michael Casinelli, Elias Hoponick, Alex Sampaio; and Eagle Scout, James Amato. Dan Heiden earned the first Gold Palm award for earning 10 merit badges beyond his Eagle Scout award.
Merit Badges were also awarded: Cameron Amato, camping; James Amato, communications, cooking, personal management, family life; Michael Casinelli, citizenship in the community; Stephen Casinelli, citizenship in the community; Spencer Hatfield, fishing; Alex Sampaio, citizenship in the community, cooking; Matthew Simon, cooking.
Ian Boath was acknowledged for being inducted into Scouting’s National Honor Society, Order of the Arrow.
Boy Scout Troop 55, which is sponsored by Huntington United Methodist Church, has members from Shelton, Ansonia and Derby. The Troop had a busy spring, participating in Shelton Clean Sweep, the Memorial Day Parade and camping for a weekend at West Point U.S. Military Academy and for another weekend at Housatonic Council Camp.
