The Valley United Way Corporate Volunteer Council is asking local companies to give a duck to help feed children in need this summer.

In an effort to address growing concerns about food insecurity in Shelton and surrounding towns, the Valley United Way Corporate Volunteer Council is selling rubber ducks for $5 each as part of the 2014 Day of Action. For each $5 donation, a local child in need will be fed for a day.

Donations will be accepted from now until mid-June. The rubber ducks will be making their splash into the fountain at 1 Corporate Drive in Shelton on Thursday, June 19, at 10 a.m. Each rubber duck will symbolize a child fed for one day.

Contact Patricia Tarasovic, director of the volunteer center, at [email protected] or by calling 203-926-9478 for more information. Donations can also be made online.
