Police: Shelton man sprays fire marshal, assistant chief with hose

FI-Shelton-PoliceFire officials got sprayed with a hose after telling a Shelton resident to put out a fire at his home.

On Tuesday, the Shelton fire marshal and the assistant fire chief responded to a residence on Beardsley Road for a complaint of open burning.

The homeowner, identified as Mark Lilly, 77, allegedly became verbally abusive to the fire officials and refused to put out the fire.

Reports allege Lilly eventually got a garden hose, but sprayed both fire officials instead of the fire.

Lilly was issued a misdemeanor summons for opening burning and second-degree breach of peace.
