Shelton resident wins state truck driving competition; next, on to the nationals

Shelton resident Ernest Budlowski placed first in the three-axle division of the Connecticut State Truck Driving Championship, a test of safety practices for truck drivers across the state.

Budlowski, a driver sales representative for Con-way Freight, will represent  Connecticut at the National Truck Driving Championships this summer in Pittsburgh, from Aug. 12-16.

It will be his seventh time competing in the national championship.

Budlowski has 28 years of experience behind the wheel, 19 of which have been with Con-way.

When he’s not on the road, Budlowski said he enjoys fishing, weight lifting, running, playing baseball and spending time with his wife, Theresa, and their two children, Ernie Jr. and Jacquelyn.
