'American Hustle' to be shown at Stratford Library on July 28

The Stratford Library’s “Monday Matinees” series continues with a screening of the 2013 Oscar nominee “American Hustle” on Monday, July 28 at noon.

The series presents recent, popular films twice a month from June to August. The screenings, free to the public, are on a widescreen in the air-conditioned Lovell Room.

 

Nominated for 10 Oscars

The 2013 film stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, and was directed by David O. Russell. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The movie is rated R and is 138 minutes long.

The period crime story based on actual events focuses on a con man forced to work for an unhinged FBI agent, who pushes him into a world of New Jersey’s powerbrokers and Mafioso.

 

‘Nebraska’ to be shown next

The summer series will conclude with an Aug. 11 showing of “Nebraska,” starring Bruce Dern in his Oscar-nominated performance.
