Softball marathon benefits Valley-based charity that grants wishes

The Bridgeport Bluefish will partner with Treasured Time, a Valley-based charity, to host the Extra Innings Softball Marathon on July 25 and 26.

Shelton-Bluefish-LogoTreasured Time helps grant the wishes of parents with life-threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory with their children.

The 24-hour event at Harbor Yard Ballpark in Bridgeport will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 25. Participation is limited to the first 32 teams consisting of at least 10 players per team. Each team will play a one-hour game.

Prizes for the winning team

Out of the 16 winning teams, the team who scored the most runs will be crowned the champion and win a dinner for 10 at Molto Bene restaurant in Ansonia, and a night in a suite at a Bluefish game.

Participants are required to raise a $50 individual entry fee to play in the game. All proceeds will go to granting the wish of a family through Treasured Time, which is based in Seymour.

Public can watch the game

Tickets to attend any part of the 24-hour marathon game are $2. Activities taking place throughout the event will include corn hole, zumba, DJs, raffles, and a children’s area.

Concession stands will be open Friday from 6-10 p.m. (alcohol sales until 2 a.m.), and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

During a kickoff celebration at 6 at the stadium, Treasured Time founder and CEO Suzanne Major will speak about the organization and meet a Treasured Time family who are traveling to Disney World as their wish.
