Engines will be roaring Monday at Ryders Landing Shopping Center for the annual Ryders Landing Cruise Nights. The show will be from 5:30-9 p.m. on July 21.

Typically a monthly gathering since 2009, this will be the only show this season.

Vehicles on display will be from any year and can range from a vehicle from 1912, to something purchased this year and souped-up.

‘There’s a lot of pride and passion’

“The typical person who attends is someone who has invested a lot of time and a lot of effort … to just maintaining [or restoring] a classic car,” said Dr. Robert Sbriglio, an event organizer. “There’s a lot of pride and passion there.”

He said that there have been more than 100 vehicles at the event. “Every car owner [loves] to tell stories about their car,” said Sbriglio. “They’re really eager to share.”

Sbriglio has two classic vehicles, one is a 1937 purple Studebaker, “a beautiful mongrel,” and a 1941 truck. He’s not sure which one will make the cut this year to be displayed.

In a previous show, there was a car from 1912 that was described as being “amazing.”  Other vehicles have been stock cars just as they were when they rolled off the showroom floor in the 1930s.

Free admission for the public

There is free admission for those displaying their vehicles as well as the public. Food and music from multiple decades will be available. Trophies awarded.

The shopping center is located at 88 Ryders Lane, Stratford, off Route 110 near the Merritt Parkway bridge over the Housatonic River.
