Study recommends better signage for downtown Shelton public parking lots

There are 1,555 off-street parking spaces in 39 lots, both public and private, in downtown Shelton. Six public lots contain 321 of the parking spots, according to a recent study.

This includes 93 spaces near the Farmers Market Building, which are leased from Northeast Utilities. That lease is now being renegotiated.

The study found that about half of the spots were occupied on a weekday morning (this didn’t include the Avalon garage, which is not visible).

It recommended better signage to indicate the lots that are available for free public use.
