RESCHEDULED SHOW: Hear rock songs from ’60s and ’70s at the Huntington Green

A band specializing in rock hits from the 1960s and 1970s will perform Thursday, Aug. 14 from 7-9 p.m. at the Huntington Green in Shelton.

The performance by the Silent Majority Band was rescheduled from the previous night due to the rain that fell Wednesday.

The outdoor concert is free and open to the public. It is part of the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department’s Music Under the Stars weekly summer concert series.

 

Doors, Stones, Beatles, Skynyrd, etc.

The six-member Silent Majority is “a powerful and energetic Connecticut-based band,” according to the band’s website. Silent Majority goes by the slogan, “We Will Be Heard.”

Shelton-SilentMajority3The band performs well-known songs such as “We’re an American Band,” “Brown Sugar,” “Come Together,” “Feelin’ Alright,” “Free Bird,” “Light My Fire,” “Magic Carpet Ride,” “Purple Haze” and “Takin’ Care of Business”

The group’s members are:

— Cliff Fava, keyboards

— Jim Grueb, guitar

— Ken Seidenburgm, drums and percussion

— Don Sherman, bass

Upcoming summer concerts

The Music Under the Stars concerts are free evenings of outdoor music every Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Rain date is the following evening (in case of inclement weather, call 203-331-4120).

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets as well as picnic food and refreshments. Food trucks will be on-site as well.
