The West Haven Twilight League will honor outstanding past and present players and league members at its 50th annual Gold Bat Dinner, Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Westwoods, Italian American Civic Association, 85 Chase Lane, West Haven.
“The Gold Bat recipients are honored for their contributions to the league, which is one of the country’s oldest amateur baseball leagues,” WHTL President Vin DiLauro said. “This event is our way of saying thank you to the players, area fans and the City of West Haven for helping to keep amateur baseball alive.
“It is also a yearly celebration of our current players and coaches and their achievements during our 2014 season.”
Gold Bat awards will be presented to Steven Colantonio of Cheshire; Joe Lucibello of Orange; Mark Potocsky of Branford; Jim Tziokis of Waterbury; and Alec Zarnowski of West Haven.
The WHTL Gold Bat Community Award recipient will be Todd Tompkins of West Haven and the Program Dedication will go to Tom “Tinker” Blake of West Haven.
Other awards will be given at the dinner to league champions Baybrook Remodelers, Bob Greenwood Tournament champions Columbus Auto Body, MVP, Best Pitcher, Batting Champion, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year.
In addition, the All-League team awards and sportsmanship award will be presented.
This year’s event will also feature a silent sports auction as well.
