Stay & Play

Fridays, Sept. 5 and 12, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

Budding Bookworms

Monday, Sept. 8, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.

MS Support

Monday, Sept. 8, 2 p.m. Self-led support group, this month a discussion of diet and nutrition with Salvatore Fiorentino of the Center For Natural Health, LLC in Norwalk. Group is free, new members welcome; meets in handicap accessible meeting room on lower level just off parking lot.

SW CAPA

Monday, Sept. 8, 6:30 p.m. Area chapter of regional author and publisher association, meet for support, speakers and sharing; new members welcome.

Fun for Little Ones

Tuesdays, Sept. 9 and 16, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs and movement for toddlers and pre-schoolers up to age 5 in this engaging and entertaining themed drop in program; siblings welcome.

Book Buzz

Tuesdays, Sept. 9 and 16, 2 p.m. Drop-in with Miss Maura for weekly book and book based craft plus a healthy snack. This is program for preschool children and their caregivers welcomes audience participation.

FOTSL Book Sale Committee

Tuesday, Sept. 9, 5:30 p.m. Plans for the October Book Sale are getting finalized; more hands are always helpful.

knit!

Tuesdays, Sept. 9 and 16, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in.

Kids in the Kitchen

Wednesday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. The trip around the world with cooking treats continues for kids 5 and older, with caregivers. Simple skills, but adult help needed so parents expect to stay. Register early, dress for mess.

Dementia Caregivers Support Group

Thursday, Sept. 11, 11:30 a.m. New support group for individuals caring for loved ones living with dementia. Bring along a lunch or snack and take a break with others sharing similar situations. The group returns on the second Thursday of each month.

AlphaBits

Thursday, Sept. 11, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

Shelton School Readiness Council

Thursday, Sept. 11, 2 p.m. Open council meeting of Shelton supporters of early literacy; new members welcome.

Library/Home School Network

Friday, Sept. 12, 2 p.m. Homeschooling or thinking of home schooling? Meet other families at this open-session; children are welcome and light refreshments are served.

Teen Volunteer Orientation

Saturday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. Teens who need community service hours – stop in anytime to complete an application and attend this orientation; no registration required. Parents: expect to attend this workshop with teens. Volunteers must be 12-19 years old, and may not be completing these hours for court or disciplinary board assignments. Teen Saturday

Saturday, Sept. 13, 1:30 p.m. — Boost! teens 13-18 create their own signature paper while discussing Miriam Forster’s fantasy City of a Thousand Dolls; Film Critics, 3 p.m. teens screen a film over snacks; new members welcome.

Volunteers Wanted

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be offered again in the winter, new volunteers are welcome to consider participating in this rewarding program. Local training will be offered at Team in Derby in late fall. Interested individuals should contact Team for more details.

Home Delivery

Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch library, 203-926-0111). A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
