Parking ban in effect Sunday for parts of downtown Shelton

Shelton-PoliceLogoSmallFor Shelton Day on Sunday, a parking ban will be in effect from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. along Howe Avenue (Route 110) from Cornell Street to the Beard/White Street area, the Shelton Police Department has announced.

Also, Center Street will be closed from Coram Avenue to Howe Avenue. Bridge Street will be closed approximately 500 feet easterly from the intersection with Howe Avenue, with vehicles able to access Bridge Street from Canal Street to use the bridge that connects Shelton with Derby.

 

Annual street fair

Shelton Day will last from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. The annual street fair features booths highlighting local businesses and organizations as well as food, crafts, live music and other activities.

Part of Howe Avenue, the main commercial road in downtown Shelton, is closed to vehicles and open to pedestrians only for the event.

Shelton Day is free, takes place rain or shine, and is sponsored by the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club.
