Residents can pick up financial guidance during upcoming free presentations organized by the Valley United Way.
“Get Retirement Ready” will be held Monday, Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the United Way office, 54 Grove St., Shelton.
The focus will be to help prepare individuals for the decisions they need to make as they approach retirement, including sources of retirement income, employer distribution options, lump sum vs. income stream, IRA rollovers, health insurance options and relocation decisions.
Experts from Barnum Financial Group, an office of MetLife, will conduct the session. A light supper will be provided; people must register at 203-926-9478 or valleyunitedway.org.
Future sessions will focus on creating income for retirement (Oct. 20) and understanding Social Security (Oct. 27); series sponsor is Pitney Bowes.
