Himes and Debicella to participate in debate Oct. 19

Twelve area chapters of the League of Women Voters (LWV) will present a debate between Democrat U.S. Rep. Jim Himes and Republican Dan Debicella, candidates for the Connecticut’s 4th District, on Sunday, Oct. 19.

The event, free and open to the public, will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Clune Performing Arts Center at Wilton High School, 395 Danbury Road (Route 7), Wilton.

Himes, a Democrat from Greenwich, is seeking a fourth term. Debicella, a Republican from Shelton, is a former state senator. Himes defeated Debicella in a somewhat close contest in 2010.

The 4th Congressional District includes much of Fairfield County, including most of Shelton.

Audience can submit questions

The debate format will include questions collected in writing from the audience and others prepared by LWV members. All questions will be presented by moderator Kay Maxwell, a former president of the national LWV and currently executive director of the Stamford-based World Affairs Forum.
