DRINK UP: An afternoon of beer and music at Shelton’s Riverwalk

Jessica Beach and Casey Gorman, both of Shelton, settle in at the 2014 Hoptoberfest craft beer festival and wing contest at the Riverwalk on Saturday.
“We’re supporting the Rotary Club while having a good time,” Gorman said. “It’s an afternoon with family and friends, and music and beer — what can be better than that.”

Beach and Gorman arrived at the beginning. A short line began forming outside the fences as eager attendees briefly waited to get in. The light morning rain ended just before Hoptoberfest began. The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club organizes the festival.

Gorman wasn’t just a guest — he also performed on stage as part of the entertainment during the four-hour event. While he was enjoying refreshments, Howie and the Soul Potatoes were on stage.
