Shelton business honored by business journal

The Hartford Business Journal celebrated outstanding achievements of the region’s successful family-owned and operated firms. Shelton business Precision Computer Services, Inc., was on that list.

“The Family Business Awards recognize those who have successfully integrated tradition and sustainability in their family-owned venture,” said Joe Zwiebel, founding publisher of the Hartford Business Journal. “The winners are exemplary family-business models who have managed to stay true to their roots while elevating the communities they serve.”

The 2014 Family Business Awards winners were determined by a panel of judges: AJ Johnson, Small Business Night Out; Eileen Candels, Kelly Services; and, Peter Gioia, Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA).

The 2014 Family Business Awards winners were:

Companies with fewer than 25 full-time employees

1st place: United Gear & Machine, Suffield.

2nd place: Hartford Prints, Hartford.

3rd place: D’Addario’s Auto Service, East Hartford.

Companies with 25-75 full-time employees

1st place: The Associated Construction Company, Hartford.

2nd place: Advanced Performance Glass, South Windsor.

3rd place: Precision Computer Services, Inc., Shelton.

Companies with 76-169 full-time employees

1st place: Windsor Marketing Group, Windsor.

2nd place: Carla’s Pasta, South Windsor.

3rd place: Connecticut Lighting Center, Hartford.

Companies with 170-plus full-time employees

1st place: J.E. Shepard Companies, South Windsor.

2nd place: Fairfield Processing Corporation, Danbury.

3rd place: EBP Supply Solutions, Milford.
