A Shelton homecoming with beer

It’s “Bottoms up!” for Kenny Bullard, who grew up in Shelton, and girlfriend Lauren Bruno at the Hoptoberfest on Saturday at Shelton’s Riverwalk (Veterans Memorial Park).

They were checking out the Yuengling Beer tent, a Pennsylvania beer that promotes itself as “America’s oldest brewery.” Bullard said he likes Yuengling, a beer that just began being distributed in Connecticut but has long been available in many nearby states. Bruno tends to favor IPAs.

“This is awesome,” Bullard said of all the people and the beer selection at Hoptoberfest. “We like beer.”

Bullard is a 2008 Shelton High graduate. Bruno grew up in Prospect. The couple now lives in Rocky Hill, near Hartford.
