AlphaBits

Thursdays, Oct. 23 and 30, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

Teen Saturday

Saturday, Oct. 25, 1:30 p.m. Boost! Teens 13-18 craft while discussing this week’s book. Film Critics, 3 p.m., teens screen a film over snacks; new members welcome.

Library Lego Club

Saturday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. Legos Challenge 2: all ages drop in. Children 1-12 create something using Lego pieces of only one color. If you accept this challenge, come build to your heart’s content with Legos and Duplos provided by Plumb.

Budding Bookworms

Mondays, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.

Fun with Fiction

Monday, Oct. 27, 5 p.m. Kids in grades 3-5 and their families discuss The Lemonade Crime by Jacqueline Davies; plus refreshments and door prizes. Multiple copies available.

Fun for Little Ones

Tuesdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs and movement for toddlers and pre-schoolers up to age 5 in this themed drop in program; siblings welcome.

Book Buzz

Tuesdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 2 p.m. Drop-in with Miss Maura for weekly book and book based craft plus a healthy snack. This is program for preschool children and their caregivers welcomes audience participation.

knit!

Tuesdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in.

Tweens Rule

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 6 p.m. New program for kids in grades 5-8. Crafts, cooking, book discussions.

A Poe Celebration

Wednesday, Oct. 29, 6 p.m. All ages drop in read of the Edgar Allen Poe works selected by participants, choose your favorite to share with the group and celebrate the season with class.

Hush! Hush! It’s Halloween

Thursday, Oct. 30, 5 p.m. Kids ages 5 and older dress in costume and join Mrs. Fritsch and Mr. Al to celebrate with a Halloween parade, story, crafts, and light refreshments. Registration required.

Stay & Play

Friday, Oct. 31, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers: adults chat while children play; light refreshments provided. Suitable for babies and young children. Drop in.

Art with Mr. Al

Monday, Nov. 3, 5 p.m. Kids in grades 1-6 discover the principles of art and color; dress for creating/mess. Registration required.

Volunteers Wanted

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be offered again in the winter, new volunteers are welcome to consider participating in this rewarding program. Local training will be offered at Team in Derby in late fall. Interested individuals should contact Team for more details.

Home Delivery

Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch library, 203-926-0111). A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
