The Bridgeport Bluefish will host a World Series viewing party and meet-and-greet with former Major League Baseball player Bill Buckner on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 7-9 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre, 275 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport (just off the Route 8/25 connector).
“Bill Buckner is one of baseball’s iconic figures and we look forward to Buckner at the Bijou being a memorable event,” said Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole.
Buckner played with the Boston Red Sox and four other teams from 1969 to 1980, ending his career with 2,700 hits. He won the National League batting title in 1980 with the Chicago Cubs.
He played with the Red Sox for five seasons — from 1984 to 1987, and in 1990.
In 1986 while on the Red Sox, Buckner committed a fielding error during Game 6 of the World Series against the New York Mets that has become infamous.
