United Illuminating is reporting that 107 customers in Shelton are without electricity due to outages, as of 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
There are 17,858 UI customers in the city. The utility company reports that the outages have been caused by two events.
There has been strong winds and rain during the course of most of the day.
The outages began about 6:20 p.m. according to the UI website, and appear to be in the Huntington section.
In neighboring Trumbull, UI reports that almost 1,200 customers are without power at this time. That’s more than 8% of all customers in that town. Some of the customers served by the transmission lines included in the Trumbull numbers may be in Shelton. Those outages began at just before 8 p.m.
The state’s largest electric provider, Connecticut Light & Power, is reporting minor outages in some of the towns it serves. Most heavily impacted are Farmington (near Hartford) and North Stonington (on the Rhode Island border).
