Shelton school supt. is honored by Junior Achievement

Freeman Burr, Shelton school superintendent, and Bernadine Venditto, president of Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut, hold the Outstanding Educator Award that Burr received from the organization during its George R. Dunbar Free Enterprise Hall of Fame ceremony Oct. 8.

The local nonprofit JA affiliate, founded in 1946, focuses on in-school and after-school programs promoting work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. Last year, more than 22,600 students and 1,450 business and parent volunteers were involved in local JA programs.
