Celebrate Shelton to highlight local business community

Michael Skrtic, owner of the Glass Source Studio, and Nicole Heriot-Mikula, owner of bringtheHoopla, have joined forces to create Celebrate Shelton, a citywide initiative to raise awareness of all small businesses in the city.

There will be a kick-off celebration on Black Friday, Nov. 28 from 6-9 p.m. at 415 Howe Ave. (Conti building). Sponsored by Liquid Lunch, it will include handmade artisan vendors, live music, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. All vendors will feature a special offer.

The market will continue on Small Business on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturdays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

 

Tree lighting ceremony

A community tree lighting is set for Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the pavilion on Veterans Memorial Park.

Shelton-225AnnivLogoThere will be caroling with Center Stage, hot cocoa and baked goods by the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

The tree will be donated by Jones Family Farms. Children in the community are encouraged to create their own handmade ornaments to hang on the tree prior to the lighting.

Other sponsors of Celebrate Shelton include the the city of Shelton, Focaccia’s and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce.
