Shelton residents in referendum vote: We want better roads

Shelton voters overwhelmingly approved a referendum question to have the city bond for $5 million to pay for road paving and upgrades.

The No. 2 ballot question was approved by a margin of 82%-18%, with 10,497 approving of the measure and 2,314 voting against it. The referendum authorizes the city to borrow $5 million to make rod improvements.

The referendum question was worded as follows:

“Shall the $5,000,000 appropriation and bond authorization for the reconstruction and resurfacing of roads in the city of Shelton be approved?”
