As of about 10:20 on election night, Republican congressional candidate Dan Debicella is still waiting for the final results from his race against Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Himes.
Debicella said the results so far appear to be close to those four years ago, when he lost a somewhat close election to Himes.
Results from about a half dozen towns are not known, including Bridgeport and Stamford, which likely will be good for Himes. But there also some suburban towns that haven’t reported, such as Ridgefield and Trumbull, where Debicella should do well.
“We are still waiting,” he said, while at a gathering at Vazzy’s in Shelton. “It’s so slow. It looks like almost every town is coming in like it did before — but I just can’t say about some towns.”
Win or lose, Debicella said he loved the experience.
“I’m very proud we ran a race of ideas,” he said. “It’s been the greatest honor of my life to participate in this dialogue about the future of this nation.”
