Fishing show this weekend: Fly-tying, rod-making, and fly fishing lessons

The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum will hold the eighth annual Art of the Angler Show on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15 and 16, at the Ethan Allen Inn, 21 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury. Show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday

The show spotlights arts and collectibles related to fly fishing. Highlights include bamboo rod-making, fly-tying, books and artwork. Fly-tyers and rod-makers will demonstrate their crafts and give lessons, and fly fishing items can be appraised. Special seminars are also scheduled.

Among the exhibitors will be “Yankee Fisherman” from Hersam Acorn Radio. The radio show, hosted by John Kovach, can be heard weekly on Thursdays at 1 p.m. on www.hanradio.com.

 

Admission and fly fishing lessons

Admission to the Art of the Angler Show is $12 per day, or $20 for a weekend pass. Ages 12 and younger are admitted free.

There is a dinner Saturday at 5:30 for a separate fee. A live consignment auction will be held at 7:15 p.m.

Those interested in learning to fly fish can attend sessions offered by Trout Unlimited Women’s Initiative members at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
