Bond was set at $100,000. Ellis was scheduled to appear before a judge today, Nov. 12, at Bridgeport Superior Court on Golden Hill Street.
New facts are disclosed
During the original incident that led to the car chase, Ellis allegedly collided the van he was driving with another vehicle when he changed lanes on Interstate 95 in Westport. Ellis then fled the scene by continuing to drive northbound on I-95 toward Bridgeport, police said.
The driver and an occupant in the other vehicle in the Westport incident were not injured, according to the State Police. The other vehicle sustained damage in the rear quarter panel.
The suspect allegedly was driving at speeds greater than 85 mph while trying to avoid being captured.
Once in custody, Ellis complained of neck and back pain and was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
Police realized the Mercedes Benz van was stolen after contacting its owner, who informed state troopers the van was reported as stolen earlier in the morning. The stolen van belonged to International Delights LLC of Clifton Park, N.J.
