No snow expected in Shelton tonight (just lots of rain), but snow possible elsewhere

Rain is expected late tonight in Shelton, not snow.

As of 11 p.m. on Sunday, it’s 37 degrees in Shelton and shouldn’t get any colder overnight, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The rain should begin after midnight and up to a half an inch is possible during the night.

The rain should continue and become steadier on Monday, with another inch or more possible, the NWS said. The high Monday will be about 52 degrees.

While snow isn’t expected in Shelton, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight for nearby northern Fairfield County and all of Litchfield County, with a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, ice and snow expected. Temperatures will be in the low 30s in these areas, according to the NWS. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 10 a.m. Monday.
