The Planet Fitness in Shelton is joining the company’s other Connecticut franchises to collect food items through Nov. 19 for seven food banks and charity organizations in the state.
Beginning Nov. 9, Planet Fitness is sponsoring a 10-day canned food drive in each of its locations as well as a Pick Your Own Price enrollment offer for new members.
Collected food items and the enrollment proceeds will be donated to the designated food banks throughout Connecticut.
“Last year, we were able to donate thousands of canned food items and over $14,000 in enrollment fees,” said Matt Wilcox, Planet Fitness vice president of marketing.
Organizations being helped
The groups being assisted are the Connecticut Food Bank, Connecticut Foodshare, Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Friends of Assisi Food Pantry, Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, Meriden Salvation Army and Salvation Army of Northwest Hills.
