Shelton resident Laura Wells and her grand champion Rottweiler, Bubba, will go head to head with some of the most accomplished canines in the country at an upcoming national competition.
Wells and Bubba will compete in the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Owner-Handled Series finals on Dec. 12 in Orlando, Fla.
She and her dog also will compete in the Regular Eukanuba Best of Breed competition and Best Breed by Exhibitor competition on Dec. 13 and 14 in Orlando.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) developed the owner-handled series to provide a venue for owners and handlers to compete against their peers.
Bubba is ranked as the number one owner-handled Rottweiler in the United States. He is also titled in Advanced Rally and has his Canine Good Citizenship title.
Wells is a Shelton native and the owner of Pawz for Wellness, a canine rehabilitation and conditioning center in Shelton.
She is president of Shelton-based Trap Falls Kennel Club, which has been given AKC’s Community Achievement Award multiple times.
As a nationally known AKC Breeder of Merit, Wells has been breeding Rottweilers as show and companion dogs for more than 25 years.
