The Shelton Board of Aldermen held a moment of silence at the Nov. 13 meeting to remember former aldermanic President Norman K. Santa, who died in October.
Santa, 82, lived in Shelton for 59 years. In addition to being on the Board of Aldermen, he served on the Inland Wetlands Commission, Charter Revision Committee and Shelton Economic Development Commission.
“He was good-hearted and good-natured,” said longtime Alderman Jack Finn. “He always would research issues and have the best interests of the public in mind.”
John Anglace, current aldermanic president, described Santa as “a superb individual and a good mediator. He was the type of guy who could bring people together. He worked to build consensus.”
The 1950 Stratford High School graduate served in the Marines during the Korean War, spent his career working for his family’s business, Santa Fuel, and was active with many local charities.
