A veterinary hospital in Shelton is benefiting from a student collection at Masuk High School in Monroe.
Masuk’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) group sought student donations on Nov. 14 at a “Miracle Minute” collection during the school’s lunch period. The collections are organized annually by FBLA to benefit a local cause.
The money will be put in the VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center’s Lucky Fund, which helps subsidize vet bills for owners whose pets have a good chance of recovery but who can’t afford the necessary care nor obtain credit to finance it.
The VCA Shoreline facility on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton was selected because a family members of someone affiliated with the FBLA club had benefited from the Lucky Fund.
In appreciation for the donation, VCA Shoreline gave each student who contributed money a raffle ticket for a chance to win four tickets to a Bridgeport Sound Tigers hockey game. A raffle winner was selected during each of the three lunch shifts.
