Shelton High graduate wins Hull Road Race on Thanksgiving Day

A 2009 Shelton High School graduate won the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race on Thursday morning.

Bobby Giuliani, who now lives in West Hartford, crossed the finish line a few seconds before Tim Milenkevich of Ansonia, who had won the race last year.

“I feel happy,” Giuliani said after the race. This was his sixth year running the course. “Tim beat me the past three years,” he said. “It’s been a real good rivalry.”

Giuliani’s finishing time was 15:05. He is now is studying to become a physical therapist at the University of Hartford.

The top female finisher was Lauren Flament of Shelton. Her time was 19:17.

This was the 13th year for the Commodore Hull Race. The five-kilometer course was altered slightly this year due to the storm on Wednesday, with runners staying mostly on Canal Street in Shelton and the Derby Greenway, rather than traversing streets in the two downtowns.

About 750 runners participated in the race, which raises money for the Boys & Girls Club of Lower Naugatuck Valley. The course began and ended at the Riverwalk in Shelton.
