Many local businesses donate decorated trees and wreaths as well as gift certificates that are raffled off. Breakfast, lunch and bake sale items are available for visitors, and there also are photos with Santa.
The event is a fund-raiser for the fire department’s annual Children’s Christmas Party. Each year has been more successful than the last, according to organizers.
Any extra money raised is used to purchase toys that are donated to children at Bridgeport and Griffin hospitals.
The festival is held in memory of its first coordinator, the late Matt Skurat, who died in September 2013 and was Echo Hose secretary.
