Route 8 accident in Shelton sends driver to hospital

A car accident on Route 8 in Shelton on Tuesday morning sent a driver to the hospital.

The accident occurred at about 9 a.m. between Exit 13 (Constitution Boulevard South) and Exit 12 (Old Stratford Road) on Route 8 southbound.

Shelton-Route8SignShelton fire companies No. 1 (Echo Hose) and No. 3 (Huntington) responded to the incident, which was called in as a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

“Upon arrival Squad 1 found a single vehicle into the woods with heavy damage,” said a posting on the Echo Hose Hook & Ladder website. “The operator was assisted out of the vehicle by a bystander and transported to the hospital by Echo Hose Ambulance.

“Squad 1 remained on scene to secure the vehicle and provide scene protection,” said the posting.
